Wedding Choreography - a lesson

The first dance is one of the most discussed topics a couple can cover.  Which song to use?  Which style of dance...waltz? tango? breakdance?  But I want to bring to your attention one slightly overseen aspect of the wedding that hasn't changed in many, many years: The Procession

This can often be a drawn out process as hundreds of guests look on as your wedding party slowly makes it's way down the aisle.  So today we want to bring to you inspiration on what I call "Wedding Procession 2.0" Think of it as a movement, a new era, something to lift the embargo on the status quo and go big or go home:

Keeping it simple with Real Simple

I walked into the loft one day and the first thing Britt said was "I went to the bookstore looking for wedding info".  I froze.  I pictured Britt with book after book on weddings, magazine's piled high from every major publisher: Bride, Modern Bride, In-Style Wedding, Bridal Wedding and the list goes on and on. 

To my surprise Britt had just one magazine: Real Simple Wedding.  It was the best magazine we could possibly get, with simple lists, examples and advice. 

We go through it regularly, sometimes for advice, and often for inspiration. I highly recommend it.

Wedding Advice - Tip #1

As married couples know, they get a lot of advice.  I mean a TON. We've been offered wedding advice on everything from flowers to invitations.  Do's and don'ts. You name it, we probably got that bit of advice already.  So I decided it would be nice to share some of the useful tips we get, and today's post is our first. 

Notebooks.  This piece of advice came from my mom, who said "you should get a notebook so that you can write down everything and keep track of things.  It'll also serve as a sort of 'agreement' between you both."  Not bad.  So we did, I went out and bought some Moleskine notebooks, which as many of you know are my favorite.  They are pictured on the right.

It serves as a great catch-all for us and it'll also be nice to look back on it many years from now. Thanks Mom.

Nov. 14th - The big day

It's official (sorta) - we are getting married on November 14th, 2009 in Santa Barbara, CA.

Welcome to our OFFICIAL life blog.  You followed us in Germany and now we've decided to continue the blog with our daily lives and our upcoming wedding.
