On Nov. 14th, 2009 - Britt & I will be taking the plunge. Below are some details on our wedding locations and schedule.
Friday, Nov. 13th - 7pm Arts & Letters Cafe: Rehearsal dinner and cocktails
Saturday, Nov. 14th Wedding Day
3:00pm to 4:30pm (guests arrive at 3:00pm, ceremony begins at 3:30pm SHARP!) - Santa Barbara Courthouse is located just one block off State St. It's sunken gardens and red tiled Spanish-Moorish structure, provide a sweeping view of the downtown area from its open air tower. Ricky's parents were also married here. The ceremony will take place in the Mural Room, a unique and beautifully decorated room that was originally designed as the assembly room for the County Board
of Supervisors, where they presided for more than 30 years.
The Mural Room has 6,700 square feet of hand painted Groesbeck murals that capture everyone's interest. The intricately painted ceiling is just as captivating and represents the most detailed hand stenciling in the courthouse. The room is 40' wide by 70' long with a ceiling height of 25' to 30'. Large, highly decorated sets of double doors divide the main entrance from the second-floor lobby at the top of the main staircase. The inside surface of these doors are covered in rich brown leather and are painted with a diamond pattern overlaid with a large ceremonial shield that represents the unification of Spain under Ferdinand V (of Aragon) and Isabella (of Castile).
5pm to 11pm Cocktails/Dinner Reception - party! -- Canary Hotel
We've officially signed on at the Canary Hotel for our wedding reception. The reception will take place on the roof of the hotel, with stunning views of the nearby mountains of Santa Barbara.
